I have gone through the exact same thing, but got it to work. OK, to begin I have a PS3 but it should be the same. When you turn it on and it asks you to hit start do so. Then load the saved file that you have. Then it brings you to a menu with resume game at the top. Select that. Under the two faces is a precentage number to show how far you've got in it. If you want to play the other campaign you need to click on it and do what it says. From here on out, if you click on new game it will save over so you will have to always go to resume game. Hope that helped.
