Specifikace Bluetooth 5.0 byla vydána 16. 6. 2016, na trhu se objevuje ke konci roku 2018. Oproti předchozí verzi by měla zvládnout přenosy na větší vzdálenosti a to zhruba 4× delší než verze 4.2. Společně s touto změnou byly přidané různé rozsahy rychlosti. Tato nová verze Bluetooth má také dosáhnout většího výkonu při lepší účinnosti, ztrácí ale zpětnou kompatibilitu se zařízeními využívajícími verze Bluetooth nižší než 4.0.[3]

Budou mi tedy fungovat chytré hodinky s Bluetooth 5.0 a telefon Xiaomi s verzí 4.2???
