No, it can't, mine doesn't need it for anything.

I have a mobile phone (without data) for making calls and as a watch and alarm clock (and I have offline navigation on it, if I were to go somewhere further than just around the chimney) + I have the mandatory bank applications on it because of the functioning of IB on the PC. I don't need it for anything else. I pay with payment cards in stores, I access the internet from my PC, I play games on my PC, I also use my photos/videos/music/office/emails on my PC. For decades, I have spent the vast majority of my time at home in my house; if I go out (to the estate, to the shop, to the doctor, to visit, etc.), I can easily do without the non-telephone functions of my mobile phone.
