Don't quick format them (default under Winblows). You must manually uncheck that. Are you?
I've pulled off multiple disk conversions without any snags whatsoever. If using the "dos" version of format, you may want to go c:\>format a: /f to force it. More options are avilable by going c:\>format /?, sorta like going man fdformat under Linux.
