I think the specifications for an x4 slot is 2 gb/s which is a lot faster then 600 mb/s which has sata 3 port ( 20 gbs compared to 6 gbs) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express#PCI_Expr ess_2.0. As you can see from the specification of pci-e 2.0 it can support 500 mb/s per each lane, that means 500 mb/s per lane X 4 lanes will result in a 2 gb/s speed. Yes Op it will work like a charm dont worry and it will be much faster then a sata 3 port.
